RUn that stitching all the way around the band. Neatness is optional, at least for me. I try to keep the stitching mostly in the center of the band, at least.

When you've made a full circle, run the machine in reverse to lock the end of the stitching up, raise the needle out of the fabric, lift up the foot, and trim the threads.
