"GET THE LEAD OUT FUZZBALL!!!"
I grunted and sprinted faster. Drill sargent Perry was really starting to
piss me off. unfortunately, I couldn't shift to my full tiger or my were form,
as the sargent would make me run the entire course again. Doing
this as a human, though, had certain advantages. I gained stamina in all my forms
by improving my base form. I cam up to the wall, made a springing leap, and
managed to catch the top of the wall. I hadn't done that before, and looked down
at my legs as I got over it. two human legs attached to my body looked back.
I finished the course, and, exhausted, made my way to where the drill sargent was waiting. "WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?!?!?" he bellowed at me. "I had to make my way around a broken bus SIR!" I yelled back, letting part of my anger fly out with it. "Good, Now we will run the course AGAIN, this time in your half form. Now GET MOVING!" I shifted, and started the course again, thinking murderous thoughts the whole time.
Night had finally fallen, and the bastard finally let me go and eat, and grab a shower. he stated flat out, "Your fur smells like you died in it. Eat, and grab a show before hitting you bed tonight." I acknowledged this, and made my way to the cafeteria. Smells hit me as I cam in the door, some good, some really bad. I commented about this. "Well, the good might the food, but it might not." the PFC in front of me remarked. "You could also be smelling the other trainees like yourself. you smell like Sargent Perry had a fun time with you." I winced. "He did. FIVE freakin times around the track, twice as human, and once each in both my forms. I'm gonna have to take three damn showers tonight to get the mud and other crap out." I was through the line, and went to a table by my self to eat. I ate, and went to the showers.
it did indeed take me three hours to get every amount of dirt, mud and other crap from the training track out. I also got nice and cool, as I didnt use a single drop of hot water. Most people looked at me and saw a hot, panting feline. Reclining in my bed, I tought about the deal. I had signed and returned the packet. Barely two days later, two gentlemen came up to my apartment door, and showed me the entire package. This started by running my though boot camp. It also included having my tag removed. this they did right away, using a machine like a oversized pair of wire cutters. I heard a pop, felt a slight tingle of pain, and then nothing. They had me quit the apartment, and put my bike in storage, since I wouldn't sell it. I didnt have much in the way of furniture. I didnt need any. They then had me report to the local recruiter, who had me go down the the local base for basic training. I was just finishing my first week here. at this, I fell asleep. tomorrow was going to be a very long day.
The lights came on a lot earlier then we all had thought. the drill sargent was yelling at us to get up and move our asses, which we all did. I glanced at the clock as I sprinted to get my uniform on and get out. 1:30 fraggin AM. damn. After lineup, we were loaded into a bus and driven out to god only knows where. The whole time, Sgt. Perry was briefing us on what were were doing.
"Now, boys,
Girls, and anything else, we are heading out to a wilderness area. you mission is
to scout the area out and find any and all persons using smell, sight, or whatever
the hell else you have. Report the location by clicking the found button on your
multi-GPS unit. Avoid detection using any means possible. For you were-kids on
this bus, you may use whatever form you are comfortable with. You will be
issued a pack with you GPS unit, two MRE rations, and a stunner to defend
yourself with in case the very worst happens. Any questions?"
"NO DRILL
SARGENT!" we all bellowed back.
"Good!. our ETA is 20 minutes. this will give you
time to apply any camouflage you may or may not have with you, and to change forms
if need be."
Exactly 25 minutes later, I was a quarter mile away from the bus, in my full form, and
quietly sneaking through the underbrush. I had scented a group os four, and had
gotten visual. I got to within 10 feet, and clicked the found button on my MGPS unit
a total of four times. My nose was not wrong much.
I snuck off, and got a scent
of someone who had been following me. Damn! I thought, and get away as quickly as
I could without raising noise, or being spotted. I started making a long loop around,
and found that the sargent himself was following me. Bastard, I thought.
This time it's war. I got up a tree without much difficulty. barely 3 minutes later,
I saw a HUGE werebear sniff his way up to the tree. he was still wearing his hat.
He went to look up, and I dropped on him, using the stunner when I crashed into him.
He was knocked out completely. After rigging him up, I took off running, knowing
that he'd wake up in a bit and then he'd be pissed. I got about a half mile away, and
realized that I'd left a direct trail for him. I started moving around randomly,
leaving quite a trail for him. I then went up another tree, shifted into my morph
form, and came down another some quarter mile away. That should do it,
I thought. I then went back, scented another group, and found them a good 10 minutes later.
Two hours later, I had found a total of 15 people, and had lost three would be captors. I met back at the bus, as instructed, and found the MPs waiting for me. The time in the brig was worth zapping Perry senseless and leaving him hanging in the tree.
To be continued...
